Ken - one of nature's baubles (on the tree opposite our house)
Don - waiting for Santa in Houston with our son and 2 granddaughters
Another month and another collection of your various interpretations on a theme.
This month it was Nursery Rhymes. Some people have included descriptions/clues, some photographs don't need anything and there are a few that you might struggle a bit with - in which case please ask the relevant photographer!
Here are two from Andy:
Jan
Here are a couple from Kate - garden ones to highlight the unusual November weather:
Don was being indecisive - so he sent in four!
Over the years there have been more than 50 of these American style mixed 8 competitions but this was the 50th time of playing for the actual little trophy. It has only needed to be replaced once - when it got broken beyond repair!
Despite being held at the end of November, the weather gods were kind enough to give us a great morning to play it in. As usual, it was a very enjoyable morning of tennis and chat with a lovely bunch of people - despite a few of us having coughs!
The aforementioned "lovely bunch of people" (aka the competitors!) were:
Gill, Sue Jones, Sue Hubbard and Emma + Don, Ken, Arthur and Andy
The round robin matches were all very close, particularly amongst the ladies
where their individual scores ended up being 13, 12, 12, 11.
The final ended up as being:
Arthur & Sue Hubbard v Ken & Emma
with Ken & Emma winning the one set final 6-3
As topics go, "Sound" proved to be a little tricky I think!
However, before showing you the images you all sent in, I thought I would show/remind you of the BSL signs that are used in deaf tennis - one day you might need them!
Just click on this link:
BSL signs used to keep the score in tennis
and for those who like a bit of extra information on things, this is quite interesting:
..... but, as promised, here are your photos on the topic of "Sound"
Ken - see if you can work out/recognise this well-known tune!
(and again, for those who like that extra bit of detail, the extra arrangement is for the tin whistle!)
Kate - Hi-Fi shop in Guildford
The KIT today was number 49!
The players were Angela, Gill, Kate and Sue H + Nigel, Arthur, Andy and Ken.
It was a very enjoyable as usual - in very warm October weather!
Arthur and Ken finished with the same number of points and when they played each other that was a draw as well. So, it all came down to toss of a coin for which one of them joined the other finalists. Arthur guessed correctly!
The final therefore ended up as:
Nigel & Sue H v Arthur & Gill
Arthur and Gill won 6-2, so congratulations to them!
Here are the various photos you have sent me during September to do with the topic of "Wheels" - enjoy!
Jan
John - plenty of wheels at the Alton classic car rally
And our next topic, for the month of October, is
"Sound"
