Comment/message from Steve

Angela and I were reflecting (!) on how much we enjoy Ken’s monthly photo challenge, of which there have been 29 so far.

The great thing is that it AIN’T a competition!

So, just like Forrest Gump's box of chocolates ‘you never know what you’re going to get’.

Reflection - March 2021

I chose this month's topic of "Reflection(s)" before the UK's national day of reflection had been announced for 23rd March.

Here is a thought/quote from Seamus Heaney that Gaynor sent me.  I looked it up and discovered that it was written on a gatepost in Dublin in March 2020.  Oddly enough, it is not a line of his poetry: it is from an interview that he gave in 1972, referring to the Troubles at a time when they were flaring up (again!)

Back to the photos now and to start here are a couple that the group didn't take but appeared somewhere else - the robin one Don found recently and the heron I saw a while back and took a copy of:

and now for our photos!

A couple from Alison

John

Sue - "a Covid reflection"

Sue - "Lockdown reflections"

Don - Reflection and recollections over half a century!

Jan - one vain puss cat!

Gaynor - Reflections upon life and death

Ken - taken in the sunshine at Flood Meadows

Meanwhile Steve & Angela had gone across to the Itchen for a walk:

Steve - "Three Worlds"

Steve -
Itchen to Get Back in the Pub

Angela - still on the river Itchen

Keith - an Easter reflection

(in the graveyard at Holyrood Church for people to decorate with flowers)

Here are 3 from Kate, taken on the rail network on National Reflection Day:
(showing empty trains, empty car parks and empty stations)

Kate - Kingsley

As you have seen, my rule about the number of photos seems to have
gone out
the window!  I can live with that - you have freedom to express yourselves!

Building - January 2021

Our theme this month was "Building".

Before looking at what you have all have sent in, you might enjoy looking at these images on the BBC website entitled "The Art of Building 2020".

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/in-pictures-55795227

Sue - "I remember this building being used!"

(If you think you might know where this is, then Sue will be happy to hear from you)

Don - Building demolition

(the space formerly occupied by Alton Magistrate's Court and Alton Police Station)

Don - looking up at 2 different buildings in Alton

(again, if you think you know where/what these building are, then Don would be happy to hear from you)

Eden

Rowan

Ken

Jan - building a snowman in Four Marks

John - Fortress Bordon!

Kate - Building at Selborne Road

Ted's Duplo Tower
(the dramatic new design to replace Trump Tower!)

Steve - the well at Broughton
(with the inscription on the wall shown below)

Gill - and if you look carefully, you can spot one customer
who has been in lockdown for far too long!

Ken - birds were popping in and out of the hole but I couldn't get them on camera!

Gaynor sent these 3 images from Dublin Bay

................ and next month's topic is "Comparison", which might well involve you taking 2 photographs, depending on how you want to interpret the topic.
