Still Life

I hope you enjoyed the short clip from The National Gallery.  The 4 aspects he suggested to try to include in your still life were:

  • Something ephemeral
  • Something enduring
  • Something of great personal value but low monetary value
  • Something new

............  though of course you can (and usually do!) do exactly what you want - you have carte blanche to have fun with the topic!

Steve - Al Fresco Eating

Don - Personal school day memories

Kate - cut and dried

Steve - rainwater in my wheelbarrow

Ken

Something ephemeral – flowers from my garden
Something enduring – love
Something of personal rather than monetary value – Belleek pottery that my Mum bought
Something new – some books I bought to read during lockdown when the library closed

Sue

Ephemeral – a match result (one from many)

Enduring – Dunlop Maxply  - still going

Personal value – a press cutting from when Lesley and I won at Queens – 96 players from 14 counties

New – balls

Kate - perfect peony

Sarah - The Party is Over

Ephemeral is the Champagne
Enduring are the shoes - I love them and have had them for years
Personal value but no monetary value - the hand bag was my mothers
Something New - the chiffon scarf with diamanté

Ailsa - a very STILL life!

Kate - still life after Covid

Gaynor - inside the Punga stump

Kate - maybe next year?

Angela

Ephemeral:    Teddy and Emily came from the charity shop , no idea of their past lives.
Enduring:       Lorena her hand was broken 55 years ago when I accidentally trod on it.
Personal value:    All of them now played with again by the grandchildren.
New:     Mog

Gill - used for my children and now my grandchildren!
