Light - July 2021

The Japanese language has a couple of different words for light that don't really have a direct English translation:

Komorebi

This is used to describe the kind of light that you get in a forest, where the rays of the sun are filtered through the leaves of the trees.

Kawaakari

This is the used to describe the way light (particularly moonlight) reflects off a river.  It refers to the brightening of the river and the way that the light plays with the surface - the shimmers, ripples and gleams.

Here are your submissions on the topic of "Light":

Numbers - June 2021

Number(s) is our 32nd photography topic and when we have our next KIT that will be the 42nd of those competitions - quite impressive numbers really!

Strange to think that our digital world hinges on just two numbers - "0" and "1".

Anyway, here are your photos inspired by this month's topic:

John - just a few of our boxes!

Steve - two shoes, combined age 40 years, finally consigned to the bin!

Don - I have played cribbage with my Father in law hundreds of times (over 45 years) but neither of us have ever scored the maximum hand of 29 points

Ken - selection of colouring pencils

Gill -  number of wind turbines at Rye Harbour Nature reserve

Gill - at Sissinghurst Gardens

Sue

Keith - while we were waiting for our taxi after having dinner at the Raymond Blanc at the Marriot, I spotted this beauty waiting for it's owner!

Kate - Pain numbers

(as we resume Summer tennis, one for the cryptic crossword completers to work out how it relates to the topic!)

Gaynor - a natty little number!

Gaynor - a more conventional take on numbers

........... and our topic for July is "Light"
