Windows - May 2024

Yet another excellent batch of photographs from you all this month - this time on the topic of "windows" - enjoy!

John - the best window on The Gower Peninsula!

.... and, strangely, along these same lines, here are a few photos from Ken showcasing the way that shopfronts and the Town Hall in  Alton were altered so that they could be used as a film set for a couple of days in May.

The film is called "Greenland: Migration" and is a sequel to "Greenland" starring Gerald Butler and Morena Baccarin. Due to be released in 2025 I think.

On a more uplifting interpretation of the topic, here is one from Gill

Gill - a beautiful stained glass window and its reflection from the sun at Killerton chapel in Exeter

Meanwhile Don has been on holiday again!  This time in Malta:

Don - Brightly colour coordinated windows and doors in Sliema

Don - Family sculpture showing ‘windows to the sea’ on Sliema promenade

Don - Old and new windows overlooking Balluta Bay

Don - Windows in the dome at the beautiful Senglea church

Don - and finally ..... I think my copy of Windows may have become infected with bugs!!

Steve - Windows through windows!  A rare day at the office in town this month

Kate - in London for the “Moonwalker” experience near Kings Cross
(nearby building with a variety of windows)

Kate - on another trip to London this month.  This time at The British Museum for "Legion"
(an exhibition about life in the Roman army)

Keith - St Andrews Cathedral (taken from our coach)

Sue -  a wonderful window display in King's Rd Chelsea

Sue -
me capturing my own window dressing in Alton High street!

Eden (age 4) in Oxford:
"That's the greatest thing I've ever seen!  Can you take a picture of it please Papa?"

Stacey - my Mum on a cruise ship (MSC Norwegian Fjords)

...... and, arriving as usual just before the deadline, here are three from Gaynor
(taken in Cambridge, Essex and Norfolk)

I would like to give you all 2 months for our next subject, so for June & July the topic is:

"Rustic"

Spheres - April 2024

Here are all your photos on April's topic of "Spheres":

John - some small spheres at Exbury Gardens

.... and here is another one from John, showcasing his unique sense of humour!

"One of the lesser known spheres - the atmosphere!"

Here are 4 from Ken taken at the Lord Wandsworth College NGS open day:

(ceramic spheres)

(two hemi-spheres make a complete sphere!)

(not really a sphere but I liked it enough to include it!)

Meanwhile Andy was up on Hilbre Island off the Wirral coast:

Alas, he didn't have a spade to dig it up to check if it was indeed a sphere!

Then he looked up and spotted this!

..... and then this one - 93 million miles away!

Closer to home we have this from Jan at Mottisfont Rose Gardens:

John - also at Mottisfont Gardens

Jan - back at Exbury Gardens

Jan - with a world view!

Sue - 9 bouncing spheres in a shop in Sussex

Kate - Spheres in Festival Place

Don - a spinning globe as we consider our next "SKI-ing trip"

Don - the "pink" full moon on St George's day

Rosie - on the banister of our hotel up in Kingston (visiting for a uni open day)

Steve - a couple of hemispheres:

The ballroom at Powderham Castle
 The Pantheon at Stourhead
+ a bonus quarter-sphere: the goddess Isis!

Keith - 2 perfectly symmetrical spheres crash together with the black going into the pocket.  A frame winnng shot for Ryan Day - with the picture taken as it happened!

Here are 4 from Gaynor in Japan:

Gill - a recent trip to Wisley

*******

.... and our challenge for the month of May is to take a photo on the theme of:

 "Windows"
