WIT - 24th February 2025

Today we had to cope with last minute illness as well as both rain & bright sunshine!

Many thanks to Patti for stepping in at the last moment to replace Tess.

It was great fun as usual in the round robin matches with the final ending up as:

KIT - February 2025

Despite the dire weather forecast for this morning we decided to play - and were rewarded with almost no rain!  It was very cold though and I thought we did well to play! It was the right decision and we all had a lovely time, with lots of long rallies and closely fought games - and nobody slipped over!

The eight people playing today were:

 Andy, Arthur, David and Ken + Emma, Rosie, Caryl and Carey

The round robin matches were very competitive and the final this time ended up as:

David & Rosie v Arthur & Caryl

The 4 finalists - Caryl, Arthur, Rosie and David

It was a close final (and very enjoyable to watch from the warmth of the clubhouse!), with Rosie and David winning 6-4.

The Riverside - February 2025

We start 2025 with "the riverside" as our topic.  It is getting harder to think of topics that we haven't already covered since we started way back in Oct 2018!

Ken - I took the 64 bus to Winchester one day and came across this heron and a couple of swans along the river behind Winchester College:

..... and then I took the 64 bus again to New Alresford on another day, where I was really lucky and got to see a kingfisher twice - skimming over the river to perch on overhanging branches.  Not surprisingly, I wasn't quick enough to photograph it!  

It would have struggled to catch this fish in the River Arle!

Gaynor - Wicken Fen in January

Steve - when you connect up all the existing potholes in Beech you get a new tourist attraction!  Bring your own canoe and try shooting the Beech Rapids!

Steve - I’m also getting excited at the prospect of sailing on Medstead village pond!

being on the bank of the river!
