Insects - June 2022

This month's topic seemed to have lent itself to a selection of multiple images from some of us - as well as a very sensible use of the cropping facility!

Here are all 26 images for you to enjoy:

John - Spider larvae (or whatever they are called) on our lounge window

Here are 6 from Ken - the butterfly was in our garden, the rest were taken at Uppark NT

Here are 4 from Steve, taken during a break from his pond renovations!

The top 2 are broad-bodied chasers and the bottom 2 are red damsel flies - the slightly blurred one is of a pair mating.

Don took this image of a six-spot Burnet moth on the South West coastal path in Devon

Here are a couple from Rosie showing an potential intruder trying to get into her strawberry patch!

Angela - spot the Bee at Tintinhull Gardens

Ken - the wall of the cottage we sometimes stay at in Oxford is a favourite with red mason bees.  Mason bees are gentle, non-aggressive, solitary bees that are actually more efficient & effective pollinators than honey bees and bumblebees

Kate - Bee orchid?  No, just a Common Spotted one.

Kate - Morning walk on the coastal path on holiday

Gill

Sue - Molly thought this was an insect!

Sue - serious black fly!

Jan - butterfly bench

Jan - not quite an insect but still scary!

....... and 3 from Gaynor to finish off with on the theme of insect real estate!

(all from the Botanical Gardens in Cambridge)

Rustic

Des Res

High Rise

Well done everyone!

..... and your topic for July (number 44 in the sequence!) is "Blue"
